The Library is the heart of academic life at Anna Leela College — a comprehensive resource centre supporting research, teaching, and learning for students and faculty since 2008.

About the Library

The library was established in 2008, the same year when the college was established. College Library serves an internal role for providing academic knowledge and information services to the students and faculty as well. The library not only provides facility for reading to the students and faculty but also facilitates in projects and research work.

We have institutional membership of American Center Library where at a time 20 books, 10 back issues of periodicals and 5 DVDs can be borrowed for the benefit of our students and faculties for additional information resources useful to them in their activities.

Mission: To provide comprehensive resources and services in support of research, teaching, and learning needs of the academic community. Putting technology to use innovatively for the flexible delivery of services and resources to users regardless of location within the campus.

Vision: The Library will strive for excellence in support for the Teaching-Learning Process and research as per the vision of the Institute, providing a Student-Centered learning environment and services to its users. To augment and maintain collections in support of the academic pursuits of the College.

Library Rules

  • All the students and faculty of this college can make use of the library services.
  • All students must present their college ID before borrowing any library materials.
  • Students should produce their ID cards at the entrance of the Library.
  • No student will be allowed to avail library facility without a valid ID card.
  • Readers should observe strict silence in the library premises and should not disturb other readers, otherwise library facility will be withdrawn.
  • Unauthorized removal of books or damaging the property of the library or misbehavior with library staff shall be considered as an act of indiscipline, which will call for strict action and/or fine.
  • Reference books and Periodicals are not issued out.
  • Dissertations/Theses are to be consulted within the library premises only.
  • Borrowers must satisfy themselves with the physical condition of books before borrowing.
  • Students should take care of cleanliness of the library.
  • Students should not disturb the arrangements of the library furniture.
  • No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.
  • Beverages and eatables are not allowed inside the library.
  • All users are requested to keep their mobiles in silent mode. A fine of Rs. 50 will be levied for attending calls inside.
  • Outsiders are not allowed in the library without the permission of the authority concerned.

Circulation Guidelines

  • Students can issue 1 book at a time per student, for a period of 7 days.
  • Students are responsible for books issued against their ID.
  • Books must be returned on or before the due date, otherwise a fine of Rs. 5 per day/book will be charged.
  • Absence and illness are not acceptable excuses for exemption from paying overdue charges.
  • Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If found, the full replacement cost of the resource will be charged.
  • If the due date falls on a holiday, return can be done on the following working day without fine.
  • Lost books must be reported to the librarian immediately and replaced or paid for within a week.
  • Lost library books that are recovered must be handed to the librarian as they remain the property of the college library.
  • The library can recall any issued book even before the due date.

Facilities

Home Lending

Students can borrow books against their identity card for 7 days. Books can be reissued in case of no further demand. A library fine of Rs. 5/day is charged from the due date.

Reference Service

The library staff — especially the librarian and assistant librarian — helps readers find their queries. Relevant documents in print and electronic form are also provided.

New Arrivals

Newly added books are displayed for a week on the New Arrivals display shelf in the library.

Bibliographic Service

Students and faculty can avail this on-demand facility of obtaining an exhaustive bibliography on the subject of their interest.

Reprography

A reprography (xerox) service is available at the entrance to the library on a payment basis. Members should not infringe copyright laws while photocopying.

OPAC

Search available through author, title, subject, publisher, ISBN and Boolean logic queries. Users can also claim and reserve books and check transaction history using their login IDs.

Current Awareness Service

Intimation about select articles published in the print periodicals subscribed is communicated to faculty members through email.

Library Orientation Program

Every year the library conducts an orientation program for new students to make them aware of all available library facilities.

Book Exhibition

Every year the college library holds a book exhibition cum sale event to showcase recent publications and facilitate bulk purchase to enrich the library collection.

Library Week Celebration

Celebrated every year in August. Games and quizzes are organized by library staff to motivate users to visit and use the library.

Library arranges displays of books on various themes such as Women's Day, Marathi Bhasha Din, subject-wise display of books, and more.

Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre is an autonomous Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. The library provides access to the full N-List collection of e-resources.
