Overview

In compliance with the Supreme Court Judgment and guidelines particularly against sexual harassment of women at workplaces — as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 and UGC guidelines — the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) / Internal Committee (IC) has been reconstituted to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere to the staff and students of the College.

Women Development Cell (WDC)

Empowering women through awareness, education, and support

About the Women Development Cell

The Women Development Cell of the college aims to promote gender sensitivity amongst all the stakeholders of the college. The WDC hosts various awareness and interactive programs around the calendar year focusing on gender parity, gender discrimination issues, women empowerment, health and hygiene, self-defense, and cyber security. It aims to promote the general well-being of female students and teaching and non-teaching women staff in the college.

To create awareness of feminine potential and cultivate a culture where women can thrive academically, professionally, and personally.

Objectives

  • To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
  • To develop the self-confidence of women.
  • To assert the importance of spiritual, economic, social, racial, and gender equality.
  • To highlight the importance of health and hygiene.
  • To direct women's role in the society and develop a multidisciplinary approach for overall personality development.
  • To organize seminars and workshops relating to women development.
  • To promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the College.

Webinar on Redressal Mechanism of Sexual Harassment

The Internal Committee organized a webinar on "Redressal Mechanism of Sexual Harassment" for all teaching and non-teaching faculties of all four colleges along with students of Anna Leela College. Conducted through Microsoft Teams with Ms. Gita Chadha, Faculty, Department of Sociology, University of Mumbai as the guest speaker. The objective was to make faculties and students aware of the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace.

Self Defense Workshop

The Internal Committee along with WDC organized a Self Defense Workshop for girl students. It was conducted by Mr. Harish Waidande — Blackbelt in Karate, National Referee and Coach, National Gold and Asian Silver Medalist in Kickboxing.

Health Check-Up Camp

On account of International Women's Day, the Internal Committee along with WDC organized cancer screening for teaching and non-teaching ladies staff of all four colleges of HEI, blood investigation for all teaching and non-teaching staff, and an awareness programme about female cancer for girl students and women staff.

Documentary Screening — "I am a Girl"

The Internal Complaints Committee along with the Department of Multimedia and Mass Communication in association with American Library (Dosti House) organized a documentary screening of "I am a Girl – Girls around the World" — about the lives and challenges of girls from various parts of the world.

ICC & IQAC in association with Women Against Cyber Crime (WACA) organized a national level webinar on "Why Covid-19 is Different for Men and Women" — covering economic challenges, domestic abuse, and cyber crime. Speaker: Ms. Vibha Singh, Founder, WACA.

WDC organized a webinar on Domestic Violence on International Women's Day. A poster making competition on the theme "Challenges Faced by Women During Lockdown" was also conducted. Posters were uploaded on the College Instagram Account.
