The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Anna Leela College inspires students to serve the community, develop social responsibility, and practice the values of selfless service — guided by the timeless motto "Not Me, But You."

The motto of NSS stands for two things: forgetting and surrendering the self, and rendering selfless service to others — placing the community's needs above personal interests.

About NSS at Anna Leela College

The College received permission from NSS Cell, University of Mumbai to start the Unit vide letter no. NSS/230/2016-17 dated 5th July 2016, and was allotted college code SC-04.

NSS Cell of University of Mumbai has granted permission to start one NSS unit in Anna Leela College of Commerce & Economics and Shobha Jayaram Shetty College for BMS from Academic Year 2016-17. The unit currently consists of 100 dedicated volunteers committed to community service and social upliftment.

Goals

Aim & Objectives

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the problem solving process.
  • Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among volunteers.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.
