The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2009-10 with the basic objective of providing skill based education in the field of IT. Right from its inception, the department has been offering well “build infrastructure facilities with different computer platform for grooming professionalism among students to meet the incessant demands of the IT industries. The department strives to produce eminent professionals tuned to the real time working environment. To fulfill this objective, the software and hardware are regularly updated.

The department has three full-fledged computer labs with 94 computers and 3 projectors installed. As per the course requirements software’s is available. Expertise faculties in areas like Networking, databases, programming, Electronics and general IT are appointed to deliver the course material. Students weak in studies are provided extra coaching in the format of remedial lectures and test series. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the which the department provides an IT club “CODEX”.The club aims at enhancing the abilities of the students. Under the CODEX, the department conducts Quiz, Debate, Elocution, Graphic designing and various coding competitions. The department also organizes guest lectures and workshops to enrich the students’ knowledge of emerging technologies.

The department took initiative to organize various campus recruitment drive for the B.Sc. IT Students. Students are placed in reputed organizations like Infosys, Wipro and TCS to name a few. The department also organizes Industrial Visits to renowned companies to provide an insight of the work culture of industries.

The syllabus covers all the varied technologies like Artificial Intelligence , Soft computing , Image Processing ,Data Science ,Cloud Computing and big data analytic etc. , that are currently trending in Industry ,academics and research.

As a study center of YCMOU, three year undergraduate bachelor of computer Application (BCA) program is also started in year 2022-23.The course is spread over six semesters. BCA can help students to create multi-faceted career in the industry.
