Department of Commerce set up as a in 2008-09, The rapid growth of the Department of Commerce is reflected in its expansion as well as novelty in its academic programmes. Commerce department of Anna Leela College provides an enabling environment to help its students stand out both academically and in shaping them to an overall balanced personality both in terms of the colleges vision and todays competitive environment. The faculty of commerce specialized in varied aspects of Commerce and Management – in areas like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Taxation and Corporate/Business Laws and International Business- hone the academic skills of students enrolled in its undergraduate courses. Additionally, the department places emphasis on hands on learning through projects, internships, seminars and workshops of field level experts drawn from both academia and industry.
The department has an active Commerce Association consisting of both elected and nominated student representatives with the incumbent Teacher-in-Charge (HOD) of the department as its Advisor. The “˜Core Committee of this association has been proactive since its inception in providing both exposure and opportunity for the department students to participate in various inter-departmental, intra-departmental and inter-college events and competitions. Business Quiz Competition, PPT Competition, Accountancy Test, organised under the aegis of the Commerce Association is an annual event Jalosh which fulfils the innate abilities and talents of students as well as showcases their organisational and leadership skills. The unique activity of Association is publication of MonthlyMagazine 360° prepared by students under guidance of faculties. This encourages students towards research, thinking and writing habits.
A large number of Commerce students have been placed in well-known companies like TCS through its placement initiatives. Not to miss the fun element of learning, the department organizes freshers welcome, annual excursion, farewell etc. The Revised syllabus aims to mould the students so as to give them practical Insights into different areas of Industry like Commerce, Accountancy, taxation, Law and Management. The Projects given to Students also emphasizes on practical application of the Concepts learnt in the classroom. The course has been structured in such a way that it helps the students to have a lead in the Market.
