The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2009-10 with the basic objective of providing skill based education in the field of IT. Right from its inception , the department has been offering well ““build infrastructure facilities with different computer platform for grooming professionalism among students to meet the incessant demands of the IT industries. The department strives to produce eminent professionals tuned to the real time working environment . To fulfill this objective , the software and hardware are regularly updated.
The department has two full-fledged computer labs with 85 computers and 2 projectors installed. As per the course requirements software’s is available. Expertise faculties in areas like Networking, databases , programming ,Electronics and general IT are appointed to deliver the course material. Students weak in studies are provided extra coaching in the format of remedial lectures and test series. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra curricular activities for the which the department provides an IT club ““CODEX.The club aims at enhancing the abilities of the students. Under the agies of CODEX the department conducts Quiz, Debate, Elocution, Graphic designing and various coding competitions. The department also organizes guest lectures and workshops to enrich the students knowledge of emerging technologies.
The department took initiative to organize WIPRO INFOTECH (WISTA and WASE) campus recruitment drive for the B.Sc. IT Students. It had an overwhelming response, where around 1300 students from almost 40 colleges had come to participate, which made it a huge success. 27 of our own IT students were a part of the drive, out of which 15 were placed in the company which bought laurels to the IT department in its previous years. Students are placed in reputed organizations like Infosys, Wipro and TCS to name a few.
The department showed its capabilities by arranging a University level workshop consecutively for the second time. This year it was for “T.Y.B.Sc. IT – Syllabus orientation”, conducted on 19th June 2012. The workshop covered the subject “Advanced Java” as per the new syllabus of University of Mumbai. This workshop brought about huge recognition to the IT department since more than 100 participants from all over Maharashtra had gathered to be a part of this event. The department also organizes Industrial Visits to renowned companies to provide an insight of the work culture of industries.
